In 1994, New Orleans bassist Andrew Wolf corralled singer Manuel Lander and an all-star group of local musicians to explore the Afro-Cuban and Latin dance music that fueled an explosion of global popularity beginning in the 1950s. Inspired by the complex harmonies, expansive stylistic blend and high-energy sound of icons like mambo inventor Israel “Cachao” Lopez and bandleader/composer Tito Rodriguez, Mas Mamones wove Afro-Caribbean rhythms and and jazz improvisation into fresh arrangements of classic tunes and unique originals. Their sound was a welcome addition to a scene where Afro-Cuban influences have played a central role for more than a century. Late-night jam sessions and marathon dance parties followed before the band parted ways, as did one album: 1998’s award-winning Aguacero y Parranda, reissued now for the first time on vinyl by TRC.

Tipitina's Record Club is a subscription-based vinyl service that brings music directly to your door every 2 months! Tipitina's Record Club releases are only available through a Tipitina's Record Club Subscription. When you subscribe you are sent the Current TRC Release, and subsequent, specially curated releases will follow every 2 months.
You can sign up for a 6-record subscription or 3-record subscription. Since we offer a new release every 2 months, the 6-record subscription lasts for 12 months, and the 3-record subscription lasts for 6 months.
All subscriptions are pre-paid for the term selected, including all shipping costs. Shipping is FREE to the lower 48 United States. Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico is $5 per shipment. International shipping rates vary greatly and change often. International shipping rates are calculated on a per-oder basis, and are displayed clearly prior to completing the checkout process.
Tipitinas' Record Club subscriptions automatically renew at the end of the subscription term, unless a "Gift/Non-Renewing" subscription is purchased. Gift/Non-Renewing subscriptions terminate at the end of the selected term. Gift/Non-Renewing subscriptions cannot be renewed or extended - they must be repurchased to continue receiving TRC releases. You will receive advance email notification when a subscription is going to end and/or renew.
You may pause or cancel your membership at any time membership by visiting your account page, under “Manage Subscriptions” or by contacting us at info@tipitinasrecordclub.com. Cancelling mid-term will keep your subscription active until all the shipments on the current subscription have been fulfilled. We do not offer pro-rated refunds for mid-term cancellations. Pause/Skip requests must be made in advance of the release date of the record you want skipped. Release dates are the first day of the month, every other month (Feb 1, Apr 1, Jun 1, Aug 1, Oct 1, Dec1). For example, if you want to skip The Feb 1 release, you must make the request BEFORE Feb 1.
